Greening Your Living & Work Spaces
Our in-house home/office improvement team and master carpenter can help you reuse the space you live and work in. If you wanted to buy a new home but can’t afford it and need more space, reusing your space is the greener and less expensive way to go! We can do a space analysis on your home and help do cost-efficient home improvement and organization of your home and office.
We can also expand your work space and use eco-friendly friendly materials such as recycled glass blocks and recaptured wood for flooring. The possibilities are endless. Let us come to your space today and make it green!
Here are some of the more popular and practical Greening projects that we have done:
- We created new closet space to help clean and organize a bedroom to be both a living and work space for a work- from-home, single mom! She sold her car, stopped renting office space and was able to be at home when her kids got home from school! Her business has grown and has created 2 new jobs for 2 other working moms!!!
- We brought the washing machine and dryer upstairs (into a hall closet space near the bedroom) from the basement of a small townhouse and made the basement into a small apartment complete with a kitchen and bathroom. The couple was able to rent out the space to make extra money for their annual income (which more than paid for our fees) and have increased the overall value of their home by over $20,000!
- We helped a couple with a small business (with 1 child) convert their 2 car garage into an office and gym. 2 separate rooms were created by taking down the garage door and installing a wall and insulation. We created more hallway space on the first floor of their home. The home has a driveway with enough room for 2 cars. They were able to trade in both of their cars for a brand new hybrid vehicle paying less than $200/month for a 2 year loan! They were also able to increase their sales with their professional office.
- We helped a small/medium sized business who had unused space in their building create a separate entrance to close off a 3000 square foot space. This separate entrance (to 3,000 square feet of a larger 45,000 square foot building) helped to create a revenue stream of almost $80,000/year. This revenue stream helped keep this company in business and not default on a loan. This may sound like pure economics to you, but it was a Green decision. They kept jobs in the same area, created more jobs in the area and the new company buys products from the local economy. Keeping things local is the strongest case for being eco-friendly. They reused their space, shared an internet server (and the cost), shared the cost of trash receptacle services and they decided to provide fair-trade, local and organic products in their vending machines in the cafeteria that both companies use jointly.
- We built large composters for 3 families to help nourish three gardens! They have grown enough vegetables to feed their families and donate to a local charity!
